Hellingly Parish Council’s Public Open Spaces For All To Enjoy.

The Parish Council are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance for many areas within Hellingly.

At present we have the HELLINGLY COUNTRY PARK, HELLINGLY COMMUNITY HUB GROUNDS, LOWER HORSEBRIDGE RECREATION GROUND (including newly acquired land) and LOWER DICKER SPEEDWAY RECREATION GROUND

Over the next 12-24 months more open public spaces will be handed over to the Parish Council from the developers in the Parish.

Also, within the Parish the Council are responsible for two sets of Allotment Gardens, Roebuck Park Allotments which opened March 2021. We have 25 plots on the site in the Country Park at Hellingly with Tim Knight our Volunteer Supervisor overseeing the gardens and liaising with the Clerk of the Cemetery & Allotment Committee. Union Corner Allotments opened back in the 1960’s we have approximately 90 plots, unfortunately we also have an approximate 18 month waiting list for a plot, but should you wish to add your details please contact: Tina via email at tina_jenner@outlook.com with your full name, address, email address and contact telephone number.

Our Cemetery can be found in North Street, Hellingly, our Groundsman Jay works endlessly during the growing season keeping the grass cut and the Cemetery looking smart. There is a War Memorial situated near the entrance where the Community join together on Remembrance Day in November each year. The Commonwealth War Graves Commission inspect the War Graves within the Cemetery annually, sharing their report with the Parish Council.

The Grounds Committee is made up of up to 8 Councillors, the membership is currently:

Councillors W Hesselgrave (Chairman), F Lulham (Vice Chairman), G Hesselgrave, V Lee, S Davis, P Young, S Gander and D White. Representatives from the local Sports Clubs also attends by invitation - Clerk Tracy Dean.

The Committee is responsible for supervising and administering, together with the Council's Officers, the various grounds owned or administered by the Council. The areas are:
- The Country Park
- Lower Dicker
- Lower Horsebridge
- Hub grounds

The meetings of the Committee take place on a Wednesday at 7.00 pm in the Community Hub. Agendas for the meetings are issued a week prior to the meeting, they can be found below, or on the Council noticeboards. Minutes will be added to the website as soon as they are available, they are however draft minutes until they are agreed at the next meeting.
